Making Everyday Life a Little Easier
Walby Guest Bath Renovation

A Bathroom Renovation with an Added Challenge
With a busy household and plenty of laundry each week, the homeowners wanted to add a second laundry area closer to the bedrooms. Their existing machines were in the basement, four sets of stairs away from the primary bedroom. The opportunity came while renovating the second- floor bathroom used by their children and guests.
An existing linen closet just outside the bathroom provided the perfect location for stackable laundry machines. We sourced the appliances and coordinated the plumbing, electrical work, installation and hookups to create a fully functioning second-floor laundry area.
Making it all work required some creative problem-solving. Specialized door hinges provided access for servicing the machines, while careful collaboration with the contractor allowed us to recreate the hallway trim around the new laundry closet so it complemented the existing millwork.

Making Better Use of Every Inch
Inside the bathroom, we eliminated an existing door connecting one of the children's bedrooms to the bathroom. This freed up valuable wall space for a freestanding linen cabinet, replacing storage lost to the new laundry area.
A double vanity provided additional storage and convenience, while a new curbless walk-in shower with a glass enclosure created a brighter, more open feel. A small knee wall beside the linen cabinet was carefully designed to allow natural light into the shower.

We also created a recessed nook behind the bathroom door for hanging towels. This eliminated the need for hooks on the back of the door, allowing it to open fully.
New flooring, lighting, fixtures, backsplash and toilet completed the transformation.
The result is a fresh, functional bathroom with improved storage and thoughtful details, along with a conveniently located second laundry area that makes everyday life easier for the entire family.
